Good news! I have re-established contact with Steve Aal and have a pdf of his simple system fingering chart. It's a good resource to add to your collection of fingering charts.

I'll make a page for it, but for now here's a link:

https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1gLC8YtYkKf8RsPgP5oGTTvPbOJhF1CaRZLrrA2N7vRR7R663xkpGWrfY63_P&hl=en_GB

Cheers,

Welcome to Mark Hoza's Kything Flutes.

I am working to re-build my website after losing the contents of it accidentally. Rather than trying to restore it to original I am choosing to create new content and a fresh, up to date website that is reflective of where I am at with my work.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see available on my website.

Cheers,

Mark Hoza

I've been looking for Steve's fingering chart to no avail, yet. I expect that I will be able to find it in a back-up somewhere.

Have you looked at other resources? Here are a few places I have found decent fingering charts, if you haven't yet found something else:

http://www.oldflutes.com/charts/simple/
http://www.woodenflute.com/playing/fingerchart
http://www.firescribble.net/flute/learning.html
http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/fingering.html
http://www.millyard-molem.com/images/Keyed%20Flutes%20Fingering%20Chart.pdf

I want to have a better fingering chart for my simple system flutes to send along with my flutes, but there really are good resources online already. Any way, I hope that these links help you and others with the same question. I will post Steve Aal's fingering chart for the simple system flute when I find it.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Gordon,

I think that I have the HTML for that page in a backup somewhere. It would be good to get back up.

It may even still be in Google cache. I'll work if out and let you know when I've got it back on there. It's a useful resource.

Thanks for the prod!

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark, sorry to hear about the loss of data, but love the look and feel of the site. I'm updating links on my web site and wonder if you will have Steve Aal's fingering chart again?

Best wishes, Gordon

I didn't see your comment until today, sorry.

I have made a quena style headjoint for a transverse flute, yes. It is a special order. There is less work in making it than there is for the regular headjoints, and it is worth noting that intonation through the range is not perfect. It's ok, but not perfect, so that you are aware.

I am willing to make one for $600 plus shipping. Let me know if you are interested in this.

Cheers,
Mark
