Handmade leather flute cases to protect your flute.
![]()
These leather carrying cases are hand crafted by the folks at Awl Leather in Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia.
These cases are terrific if you don’t have to worry about living in an overly dry climate. If you do live in a dry climate, or if you experience dry seasons, I recommend purchasing a pvc type carrying case.
Contact me for details, as I don’t yet have the pvc cases on my site.
Prices current as at 30 June 2010:
- AUD $70 for a 2 compartment leather case.
(For use with 2 joint flutes, or 3 joint flutes with a long middle joint and short foot joint.)
- AUD $110 for a 4 compartment leather case.
(For use with 3 joint flutes with the “break between the hands” design.)
- Free shipping worldwide.
- GST included on Australian orders.
The four compartment design is basically two pairs of 2-compartment cases. One pair folds/wraps over the other pair. The two pairs of compartments are separated by a leather flap to keep the flute joints from touching. A large flap wraps around the outside to hold the case together.

I strongly recommend a hard carrying case (I make pvc and wood cases) if you live in a climate that experiences extended periods of dry conditions.
The next four images demonstrate how the 4-compartment design works.
